 Begin your 4^th of July Weekend Celebration on Friday, July 3^rd 6-8 pm at Airlie Gardens First Friday Concert Series!

With the attempt to bring a variety of jazz styles to our community, El Jaye Johnson -"Musician Extraordinaire and the Port City All-Stars will “kick it up a notch” with Contemporary Jazz entertainment at Airlie Gardens. El Jaye takes to the concert stage with his commanding presence on guitar, trumpet and vocals.  “He thrives on captivating his audience through his music and his dynamic performances and tries to reach not just their feet, but also their hearts”.

The Port City All-Stars include Teddy Burgh on sax and flute, Kevin Kolb on keyboards, Taylor Lee on bass, David James on drums and Mike Hanson on congas and percussion.

The large crowds with families walk, drive, or ride the free trolley to the gardens to enjoy the beautiful surroundings, their picnics, beverages, and the music.  The Jazz presentations in many cases actually provide a delightful and appropriate musical background for meeting and conversation with neighbors and friends.  El Jaye Johnson and The Port City All-Stars, however, always expect to “entertain” the crowd.  Always encouraging audience participation with contemporary jazz standards; tunes like “On Broadway” by George Benson and many other favorites.

El Jaye Johnson and the Port City All-Stars are favorites at the Cape Fear Museum ’s Winter Jazz Series. They’re always in demand for appearances at many of our Cape Fear Jazz Society events such as “Jazz in the Park” (at the beach). El Jaye Enterprises produce several jazz and community concert events throughout the year.

 A limited number of on-site parking passes are available for purchase by Airlie Members by stopping by the Airlie Gift Shop Saturday-Sunday 9am-5pm.  All parking passes must be picked up by 4:00 pm on the day of the concert. 

Parking for the series has moved from the Galleria to the Old Cinema 6 lot on Oleander Drive (across the street from Jungle Rapids) - trolleys are still free and will transport you and your family into the Gardens.
